17 APRIL 2017
The jackpot is now at €13,900 following Mondays draw.
The numbers drawn were 03, 15, 22, 32
Lucky dip winners were Barry McKeown, Margaret McNamara, Patricia Hourigan, Peter Hogan
Sellers prize went to Joe O Dwyer and Ann Kiely the house draw.
Our senior hurlers were down for two County hurling league fixtures last week.
On Tuesday they received a walkover from Murroe Boher so it was on to Easter Saturday and an away fixture to Adare.
Due to Limericks League semi final along with injuries the team were down upwards of 15 players for this fixture
Nevertheless we welcomed back David Breen for his first outing of 2017 and he was going well up until his departure due to injury.
It was also good to see Kevin Downes togged out and performing the warm up with the team and progressing nicely on his recovery road.
We began well with early points from frees by James O Brien, Adrian Breen, Niall Biuckley and 2 from Kevin Ryan had us going well.
Further points from the Breen brothers David and Adrian put us 3 points up before Adian Breen raised a green flag to leave it 1-8 to 0-5.
Adare had Willy Griffin in great free taking form and he reduced the gap to two points at the break 1-8 to 0-9.
Half time substitutes Dean McLoughlin and Pat McCarthy came on and did a good job with Dean scoring the first point of the second half from way out the field.
Further points from Adrian Breen(3), Kevin Ryan(free and a superb line ball) and the two final points from wing back Niall Buckley looked to have sealed the win.
However further indescretion allowing Willy Griffin to level the game up and finish 1-16 to 0-19.
Evan Condon in goals playing well varying his puck outs, while the half back line of Pa Guinane,James O Brien and Niall Buckley particularily prominent.
Up front Adrian Breen with a personal tally of 1-5 was excellent along with brother David along with Kevin Ryan.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 1-16 Adare 0-19
Team: Evan Condon, Aidan Hennessy, Cathal King, Kieran Kennedy, Pa Guinane, James O Brien(0-1), Niall Buckley(0-3), Mark Buckley, Neil O Gorman, Kevin Ryan(0-4,2f), David Breen(0-1), Gordon Brown, Mark Ryan, David sheppard, Adrian Breen(1-6). Subs: Dean McLoughlin(0-1) for Cathal King, Pat McCarthy for D Sheppard
We wish Liam Kennedy continued best wishes in his recovery from illness and also to David Breen who recovers from an ankle injury.
Jerome Boylan, Dylan Cronin and Pat Gleeson all on the mend following recent injury
It was good to see such a strong Na Piarsaigh representaion on the Limerick senior hurling team on SUnday.
Unfortunately a bad day at the office and with eight weeks to Championship it has to be a little worrying for the management.
Limericks next outing is a challenge next Sunday v Cork in Rathbane

UNDER 11 HURLERS
Our U11’s returned from the summer to 5 straight trainings session in our regular Wednesday (6-7pm) and early Saturday (9-10am) slots.
A visit from a hugely improved Parteen side nearly caught us on the hop but once the team got focussed – helped perhaps by a few choice words at half time – we did improve in the second half. It was a Friday night fixture which required lights toward the end but both teams battled with real heart with little easy ball given away.
Many of the players turned up again the next morning at 9am for training which showed a real understanding of the work needed for the next set of fixtures. Seven days after the Parteen encounter the team headed to the North Campus UL GAA facility for a season finale of two 30minute games on a fast surface on a lovely autumn evening. The team fought really hard to stay in touch against Ahane into a stiff breeze and really opened up after half time which was great for the confidence.
The fast pitch and quick ball seemed to suit also for the second game with Na Piarsaigh improving as the night wore on. Murroe-Bother provided the opposition with no shortage of skillful hurling and a real test for our lads.
A lie in was required for Saturday morning as all attention focussed on a visit to our old friends Monaleen two days later for a tournament against a very familiar Monaleen team as well as Dublin’s Kilmacud Crokes and a very strong Clooney Quinn team from Clare.
Our usual slow start was always going to kill us and we witnessed a display from a fine strong talented Crokes side which we can only learn from. A windy, mucky, wet day proved a striking comparison to the fast pitch of the previous Friday, which led to a very flat Na Piarsaigh performance.
Even the sight of the red of Monaleen didn’t stir us up enough and we left the pitch a bit disconsolate. The third game was another tough encounter where hopefully we will learn from but we at last got a performance for the last game of the day where we were unlucky not to get something from the game, going down marginally to the home side.
Our appreciation goes to everyone for getting the lads to all the events – especially on days we don’t normally meet. There is a real sense of ‘team’ now with this bunch of players – they are a pleasure to bring anywhere, many thanks for all the help.
Luke Shinnors, Kevin Bourke, Brian Kelly, Stephen McKeon, James Finn, Sam Murray, Sam Jordan, Jack Kinsella, Hugh O’Gorman, Jamie Higgins, Padraig Duggan, Dáire Patton, Matthew McGann, Josh Sheehan, Richard Curtain, Adam, Eoghan Halvey, Eoin O’Callaghan and John and Gerard O’Tiarnaigh.
Our junior hurlers qualified for a County Junior Hurling semi final following a very close game against Monagea on Sunday.
Played in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale on a very good surface we began the game well into the teeth of a strong breeze.
Kevin Ryan raised the first of our green flags when he was on hand to knock it a rebound.
The accuracy of Pat Gleeson from placed balls was excellent as we kept the score ticking b along as did the Monagea free taker.
we had two more first half goals from Kieran Daly who was a late replacement for Kevin Daly and he duly obliged by contributing a handsome 2-2 from play.
We led at half time 3-5 to 1-8 having played into the stiff breeze.
As is Murphys law the wind died completely in the second half but it was the experience and guile of midfielder Pat Glesson who kept our fight alive with 5 second half points and one free at the death to give us the priceless lead .
Despite the concession of a late penalty goal and a small bit of luck at the end we held out and progressed to a semi final spot .
The management will no doubt be happy to get over that one but no doubt plenty to improve on going forward.
Best on the night were Niall Buckley, Pat Gleeson, Kieran Daly and Pa Guinane.
Team: Evan Condon, Evan O Brien, Niall Buckley, Pa Guinane, Paul Downes, Conor Houlihan, Mark Buckley, Pat Gleeson(0-9,8f), John Madden, Pat McCarthy, Brian Hartnett, Conor Boylan(0-1), Kevin Ryan(1-0), Kieran Daly(2-2), Mark Ryan. Subs used: Mike Andrews, Dylan Cronin, Eoin Hogan, Brian Shannon
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 3-13 Monagea 2-15
Our minor footballers were in City Final action on Friday when they went to Claughaun to play the locals.
A decent performance by a team with little training who battled bravely for long periods and were well in the game mid way through the second half.
However some over elaboration and lack of accuracy put pay to our second half resurgence.
Will Henn kept our score tipping along with some good frees and also dispatched a penalty in the first half following a good run by Donal O Connaill.
We can nevertheless take heart from some aspects of play and no doubt will prosper from the experience.
Final Score: Claughaun Old Christians 2-17 Na Piarsaigh 1-8
Team: Eoin Sherlock, Glen Clancy, Jack Hardaker, John Leahy, Ger Kearns, Evan Gilvarry, Pauric Heaney, Donal O Connaiill, Reuben McCarthy(0-2), Cian O Rahilly, Will Henn(1-5), Cameron DiBenniditto, Liam Barry, Christy O Hagan, James Daly. Subs: Stephen O Halloran(0-1), James Hickey, Calvin Moynihan, David O Byrne

UNDER 21 HURLERS
Massive congratulations to our Under 21 hurlers who made it 5 County Premier Under 21 Hurling titles in a row with a brilliant victory over Doon on Saturday afternoon.
Played in Bruff by two teams who have had many a great battle over the years and this was to prove similiar.
A close fought first half with both free takers showing excellent skill and ability to penalise any infractions.
Ronan Lynch chipping in with 5 first half frees to add to points from captain David Dempsey and Peter Casey.
The decisive score of the half coming from David Dempsey who received a great pass from late addition Kevin Daly and David duly dispatched the sliothar to the back of the Doon net.
We headed into the break 4 points to the good 1-7 to 0-6.
The second half was a great show of resilience by the team with some excellent fielding from Conor Boylan and Tommy Grimes along with some brilliant defending from Jerome Boylan, Mike Andrews and Evan O Brien.
We got some crucial scores in the second half from Conor Boylan(2), Peter Casey(2)Kieran Daly and 3 Ronan Lynch frees to seal what is now a history making five in a row.
Our net minder Eoghan Foley was excellent throughout withstanding some late pressure to keep Doon at bay.
The team for the record was Eoghan Foley, Evan O Brien, Mike Casey, Mike Andrews, Jerome Boylan, Ronan Lynch (0-8f), Gordon Brown(01),Conor Houlihan Kieran Daly (0-1), Tommy Grimes, David Dempsey (1-2), Conor Boylan (0-2), Kevin Daly, Peter Casey (0-3), Dylan Cronin.

UNDER 13 HURLERS
Our 13 hurlers had a very good win over Patrickswell in Pairc Dromguil .
We got off to a brilliant start and led 2-6 ton0-1 after 20 minutes.
However in typical Patrickswell fashion they worked their way back into the game with some excellent scores of their own.
Our backs were playing well superbly marshalled by John Fitzgerald and Stephen Mitchell.
J J Carey and Dylan Lynch hurling exceptionally well in the middle third of the field and Marcus Hoganand Patrick O Neill making life difficult for the Well up front.
Final score : Na Piarsaigh 2-10 Patrickswell 2-4

12 SEPT 2016
The final round of the Group stages of the County Championship took place on Sunday where the team travelled to Claughaun to take on Ballybrown.
With nothing to play for only pride it was always going to be a difficult game to get an apetite for, and with the Junior hurlers now involved in the later stages of the Junior Championship we were down to the bare bones for this one.
Nevertheless we fielded a good team and began well with some excellent possession hurling into the teeth of a very strong wind and scored some very good points courtesy of David Dempsey(3), Peter Casey,Adrian Breen and some excellent frees from Shane Dowling(7) had us a point to the good at the break despite conceding a soft goal on the stroke of half time 0-12 to 1-8.
The second half was not so convincing and the concession of some very soft goals ultimately proved to be our downfall. The strong breeze causing chaos on the flight of the ball into the wind and Ballybrown capitalised on indecision in our defence.
Overall it has been a disappointing year to date for the lads but no doubt with rest and recuperation over the winter will be back stronger in 2017
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 0-22 Ballybrown 5-12
A County Cup semi final awaits for the lads versus Knockainey in a few weeks time
Team: Padraic Kennedy, Mike Casey, Jam,es O Brien, Kieran Kennedy, Mike Foley, Cathal King, Tommy Grimes, Gordon Brown, Will O Donoghue, Shane Dowling, Alan Dempsey, Adrian Breen, David Sheppard, David Dempsey, Peter Casey.
Subs: Eoghan Foley, Paul McNamara, Ronan Lynch
Our junior hurlers progressed to a City Junior Hurling final and a place in the County Quarter Finals following a 2-16:to 0-13 win over Crecora in Mungret on Saturday evening.
A good workmanlike performance but scope for a big improvement come County quarter final time.
We led 1-11 to 0-6 at the break with our goal coming from Conor Boylan .Other first half scores coming from Kevin Ryan (3), Pat Gleeson (2), Mark Ryan (2), Johnny Madden and Pat McCarthy.
Despite playing into the breeze in the second half the lads hurlerd well and further scores from Pat Gleeson (4), Pat McCarthy and a second green flags for Conor Boylan sealed a good performance and a final score of 2-16 to 0-13 in our favour.
We now play St Patrick’s in the City Final before a County Quarter Final versus the West.
Team:Evan Condon, Evan O Brien, Niall Buckley, Pa Guinane, Paul Downes, Conor Houlihan, Robbie Graham, Pat Gleeson (0-5), John Madden (0-1), Kevin Rwyan (0-3), Brian Hartnett, Kieran Daly (0-1), Conor Boylan (2-;1),Pat McCarthy (0-2), Mark Ryan (0-2).

05 SEPT 2016
Congratulations to our Senior footballers who have qualified for County Senior Football semi finals following the final round of games.
We went into the weekends games top of group 1 but with no guarantee of qualification such was the closeness of teams in the group.
Our opponents in our final game were St Patrick’s on Friday evening in Claughaun.
Both teams knowing a win would guarantee a semi final berth so alot was riding on the game.
We went into the game minus two regulars from our previous game but those who detputisted were more than capable
We began the game very well and had points from Will O Donoghue, Pauric Kennedy and Eoghan Kehilly to lead 3 points to 1 after ten minutes.
Further first half points from Eoin Hogan (frees), Tommy Grimes and Kieran Daly had us only a point behind at the bresk 1-5 to 0-7 .
With the breeze now at our backs we began the second half strongly and points from Tommy Grimes, Will O Donoghue and Padraic Kennedy had us level entering tge final few minutes.
Another Will O Donoghue point had us back in front which was again canceled out by our opponents.
Kieran Daly had our 12th point but once again St Pats equalised.
Despite late chances to win the game it finished all square 1-9 to 0-12 and it was enough for us to finish top of the group and into a semi final spot.
We now await the winners of a quarter final between Dromcollogher Broadford and champions NewcastleWest in a few weeks time.
Team: Luke Moylan, Evan O Brien, Cian Coady, Dean McLoughlin, Gordon Brown, Kevin Nolan (capt), Padraic Kennedy (0-2), Eoghan Kehilly(0-1), Will O Donoghue (0-3), Eoin Hogan*0-2f), Tommy Grimes (0-2),Kieran Daly (0-2), Dylan Cronin, David Dempsey, Peter Casey.

Our senior hurlers were back in Championship action on Saturday where they travelled to nearby Clarina to face Intermediate Champions Bruree.
Following two consecutive defeats to Kilmallock and Doon in the first two rounds of the championship, it was imperative that we get back to winning ways.
With the team shuffled it was a chance to see players in new positions.
We began sharply and imposed our game on Bruree almost immediately with some great points from Ronan Lynch, Shane Dowling, Alan Dempsey and Kevin Downes.
Some excellent interplay and stout defending has us on the front foot throughout and our dominance was copper fastened by a goal from David Sheppard to leave us in total control at the break 1-15 to 0-1
The second half was continued where we left off with some excellent play and great discipline shown.
Further goals from David Breen, Shane Dowling with 2 one of which came from a 20 meter free, David Sheppard with 2 and Kevin Downes gave us a comfortable win.

UNDER 14 CAMOGIE
Congratulations to the under 14 camogie girls who won the Under 14C League Final with a close fought victory over Cappamore Treaty Gaels in Monaleen GAA Grounds on Tuesday evening.
This was an excellent game with no quarter asked or given. It was Cappamore Treaty Gaels who had the better of the first half with a fine display of free taking.
We had some excellent free taking of our own courtesy of captain Enya Harrington who worked her socks off.She was ably assisted throughout the team with Eabha Benson, Aine Tierney, Grace Palmer, Sarah Murray and Laura Aherne most prominent.
We trailed at the break by 4 points to 2.
The second half we improved no end and began to dominate proceedings. However we only had added a solitary point to our tally entering the closing minutes courtesy of Moya Henn.
We finally unlocked the Cappamore Treaty Gaels rearguard following several attempts and it was Katie Keane who delivered the winning score.
This put us in the lead for the first time but the drama continued and it was goalkeeper Ciara Grant who pulled off a vital save to maintain our lead.
An overall brilliant performance from the girls and well done to all concerned.
Na Piarsaigh 1-3 Cappamore Treaty Gaels 0-5

UNDER 14 FOOTBALLERS
Our under 14 footballers were in action against Kildimo Pallaskenry on Wednesday evening in Pairc Dromguil.
Our young team more than holding their own against a much more physical side especially in the first half where we trailed by five points to three.
We had some excellent displays from the Hogan brothers Charles and Marcus, Ronan O Dwyer, Killan Ryan and Jamie Pearce.
The second half the lads struggled a little but were unfortunate to hit the crossbar with a Mark O Connor shot when the game was still in the melting pot.
In spite of defeat it was an excellent learning curve the the team who have had little time traini g together.
Team: Callum Dunworth, Fionn O Tiarnaigh, jamie Pearce, Steven Mitchell, Aidan Burke, Ben Irwin, Dylan Lynch, Mark O Donnell, Cillain Ryan, Charles Hogan, Ronan O Dwyer, Marcus Hogan, Ben Frost, Mark Moylan, Alan Gill.

Our senior hurlers were back in action for the second consecutive week when they took on Doon in Caherconlish on Saturday.
Still short one or two regulars we began slowly and found ourselves 5 points in arrears after 5 minutes following the concession of an early goal.
We slowly made our way back into the game and got some excellent points from David Sheppard, Ronan Lynch, Alan Dempsey and Shane Dowling to trail at the break 1-9 to 0-9.
We got the tonic start to the second half when Kevin Downes rifled the ball to the net to put us in front for the first time.
This lead was short lived and following a defensive mix up we conceded a second goal and one that proved decisive.
We traded points with Doon from there to the finish and try as we might we could not get the All important winning scores .
The Doon net minder producing a point blank save right at the death to deny Alan Dempsey an equalising goal.
Overall an improving performance but nonetheless work to be done.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Club Legend Paddy Verdon On Thursday night.
Paddy was a true Na Piarsaigh man holding office of Chairman for many years and managing many teams also.
He also dedicated many years to the promotion of Gaelic Games in the City and was Vice Chairman of the City Board up to the time of his death.
Paddy leaves a big void in the club and he will be sorely missed
A gas man who left no stone unturned in assuring Na Piarsaigh GAA club was at the forefront of all matters Gaelic Games.

Club Notes 25 April 2016
Our senior footballers open their championship account last Saturday evening when they travelled to Caherconlish to take on Oola in round 1.
A very open game throughout probably a little too open at times.
We fell behind early through the concession of an extremely soft goal and trailed 1-5 to no score after 15 minutes.
We scored a rather fortuous goal of our own to finally get a foot hold in the game through the boot of Eoin Hogan.
We added points from Kieran Daly and Eoin Hogan to cut the gap but were subject to a very dubious penalty decision 10 minutes before the break and Oola gratefully accepted the gift that they received.
We trailed at the break 2-8 to 1-3 but did have a strong breeze to assist the cause in the second half.
Further points from our star man Eoin Hogan narrowed the gap but we again left ourselves exposed and were duly punished albeit some questionable decisions with two further goals to seal our fate.
A goal from sub Alan Dempsey did drag us back into the contest but try as we might we couldnt get the all importsnt scores.
Overall a very disappointing opening to our campaign and a lot of work to do before next weekends round 2 action against Dromcollogher Broadford in Askeaton.
Best performers on the night were Cian Coady, Mark Buckley, Will O Donoghue and Eoin Hogan.
Team: Brendan Donnelly, Diarmuid Ryan, Niall Buckley, Mark Buckley, Cian Coady, Kevin Nolan(capt), Padraic Kennedy, Daragh Kennedy(0-1), Will O Donoghue, David Dempsey, Aaron Costelloe, Eoghan Kehilly, Dylan Cronin, Kieran Daly(0-1), Eoin Hogan(1-7). Subs used: Alan Dempsey(1-0), Tommy Grimes, Peter Hodnett.
Final Score: Oola 4-11 Na Piarsaigh 2-9
Our senior hurlers had a busy few days with two games in three days.
Our opponents this time were Ahane in the All County League in Ahane.
We began the game minus many players but nevertheless fielded a strond side and put in a good performance against a good Ahane side.
It was good to see Eoghan Foley take his senior hurling bow and he performed admirably between the sticks.
A very good game to see other players perform and they duly obliged namely James O Brien at full back, Josh O Halloran at midfiled and conor Boylan and David Sheppard up front.
A good win by the lads as they step up preparations for their first round Championship clash v Kilmallock on May 7th.
Team: Eoghan Foley, Mike Casey, James O Brien, Kieran Kennedy, Aidan Hennessy, Cathall King, Kieran Breen, Michael Foley, Josh O Halloran, Pat Gleeson, David Breen, Conor Boylan, Eoghan Keogh, Adrian Breen, David Sheppard. : Subs: Evan O Brien, Peter Casey, Kevin Downes, Shane Dowling, Mike Andrews,
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 0-23 Ahane 1-15
UNDER 15 HURLERS
Our under 15 hurlers entertained Ahane during the week and played out an entertaining draw.
Playing with the breeze in the first half we raced into an early lead and had goals from both midfielders Ian Leonard and Emmet McEvoy.
We added a third goal courtesy of Keith Dempsey to lead at the break 3-1 to 0-5.
In the second half we conceded ground due to the elements and our lead was chipped away.
Two further points from Harry O Donnell and Keith Dempsey finished our scoring and it looked like we were on for the victory however a blatant wide ball was flagged a point and so the game finished level.
We had good performers in Niall Barrett, Evan Sheehan, Mark O Connor, Emmet McEvoy and Killian Dineen.
Team: Ryan Robin Blake, Niall Barrett, Shane Harney, Jamie Pearce, Evan Sheehan, Mark O Connor, Justin Norden, Emmet McEvoy(1-0), Ian Leonard(1-0), Killian Dineen, Harry O Donnell(0-2), Keith Dempsey(1-1), Jack Barry, John Moloney, Damon Lee.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 3-3 Ahane 2-6
Our junior footballers were also in action during the week and they succumbed to a defeat by Crecora 2-15 to 1-4 with our goal coming from Eoghan Keogh.
A very disappointing performance throughout and one we hope will be improved on.
Our Intermediate Camogie team were also in action in a league semi final but met a very strong Cappamore side on the day and suffered defeat on the day.
Commiserations to the Burtchaell and Slattery families on their recent bereavements.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
The jackpot continues on €20,000 following Mondays draw.

Na Piarsaigh GAA Club notes
23 November 2015
Munster Club Champions 2015……
Massive congratulations to our Senior hurlers on another mighty performance on Sunday.
We were sluggish in the opening half but turned in a sublime second half display to allow captain Cathal King lift the Munster cup to follow in the footsteps of Kieran Bermingham and James O’Brien. We received the bad news before the throw in that ace forward Kevin Downes would be unable to play and added to the already absent David Breen concerns mounted as to our strentgh up front.
We actually had the better start with points from Shane Dowling and Kevin Ryan but it was Ballygunner who raced into a 5 points to 2 lead.
A long range free from Ronan Lynch reduced arrears before a long ball from Michael Foley was finished cooly by David Dempsey. We did however conceed 3 further frees to trail at the break 1-7 to 1-4.
The second half was much better from the lads and points from Shane Dowling(2), Peter Casey, Michael Foley and Will O Donoghue quickly turned a 3 point deficit into a 2 point lead.
A Ballygunner free stiopped the rot but we quickly added further points by Shane Dowling, David Dempsey, Kevin Ryan and Peter Casey to lead by 5 .
Further pointed frees from our opponents dissected two great Dempsey points David and Alan before a deflected shot deceived Podge Kennedy to end up in the net to leave two between the teams with 5 minutes left.
The introduction of David Breen at full forward in the second half proved crucial as his presence was causing problems for Ballygunner.
Further points from Ronan Lynch, Peter Casey and David Breen before the hard working Shane Dowling superbly dispatched an unstoppable shot to the net to seal a mighty second half.
We had some excellent displays all over the field but special mention to Alan Dempsey and Will O Donoghue, Kieran Kennedy, Mike Casey and Shane Dowling who worked tirelessly throughout.
We are extremely proud of every single member of this extremely honest hard working and hugely determined bunch.
We now can enjoy Christmas and look forward to a crack off the Leinster Champions in February.
Team: Podge Kennedy, Michael Casey, Kieran Breen, Kieran Kennedy, Michael Foley(0-1), Ronan Lynch(0-2f), Cathal King, Alan Dempsey(0-2), Will O Donoghue(0-1), David Dempsey(1-2), Pat Gleeson, Kevin Ryan(0-2), Adrian Breen, Shane Dowling(1-4,3f), Peter Casey(0-3). Our senior hurlers were in Championship action on Sunday evening when they travelled across town to Clarina.
Our opponents on this occasion were Croom in the final group game of the Championship.
The first half was a tight contest with scores hard to come by.
We had some good points from David Dempsey(2),Kevin Downes(2), Peter Casey(2),Shane Dowling free and a goal and a point from David Breen. David’s goal coming following a superb pass from Shane Dowling.
However our indiscipline allowing Croom to stay in touch and Conor Allis punishing us at every indiscretion.
We led at the break by 2 points 1-8 to 0-9
The second half we upped the tempo and hurled a little better.
Mike Casey,Ronan Lynch and Cathal King were to the fore in defence while in midfield Kevin Ryan and USA returnee Willy O Donoghue put in a hard shift.

50K CYCLE/10K RUN/5K WALK
Our first 50K cycle, run and walk took place on Sunday and proved to be a massive success.
Hundreds of cyclist, runners and walkers descended on Pairc Dromguil for our first ever event of this kind.
Stewards and volunteers were in position from early morning to deal with the crowds as the excitement began to build.
First to leave the club were the cyclists who rolled out on mass just after 10am.
Upwards of 200 cyclists of all different levels hit the road with the Blood Bike Mid West bikers leading the way.
After a brief stop off in Newmarket on Fergus at the GAA Club it was back to Na Piarsaigh via Sixmilebridge and Cratloe before returning to the club.
Next up were the runners who after a brief warm up by fitness guru Daragh Droog were on the road .
A little over 30 minutes after leaving the club we had our first runner back and it was Limerick AC’s Paul Fitzgerald with a personal best time of 32.58 who crossed the finish line in first place.
He was swiftly followed by JJ Cremin also of Limerick AC is second in 36.00 and Geoff DeCourcey in 3rd in 36.15.
Our first lady home was Cushla Hehir in 37.05 followed by Dorothy Ryan in 2nd in 43.07 and Elaine O Donoghue in 3rd in 43.46.
Our first club member back was Brian Hartnett in a time of 41.44 with John Madden right behind in 42.01.
Last but not least were our walkers who waited patiently for their turn to take part and they too looked great with all ages represented.
Finbarr Brougham and Helen Casey then became the focal point with their BBQ which went down well..
We wish to thank all our volunteers, sponsors and participants who made it a special day for the club.
We would also like to pay a special mention to the Blood Bike Mid West crew who were extremely helpful in marshalling the cycle in particular and the cyclist of Cycle for sick children for turned up in numbers to support us.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for what we hope will be an annual event.

CONALL O CAHALANE TOURNAMENT

Club Notes 01June 2015
Our Senior Hurlers were back in Championship action on Friday night in round 2 of the competition when they took on Ballybrown in Claughaun GAA Grounds.
Playing against a strong breeze in the first half our opponents began well and matched us score for score.
All Star Shane Dowling made a significant contribution throughout the game especially from placed balls and duly dispatched an early penalty following a foul on himself.
It was our opponents who profited by our generous concession of space especially around the middle third of the field.
We had good points from Adrian Breen, Will O Donoghue and David Dempsey to keep the scoreboard ticking in the first half but we trailed at the break 0-11 to 1-5.
We began the second half in great style and had 1-3 on the board in the space of a few minutes to open up a 6 point gap, one which we held to the finish thanks in the main to a timely hook from Cathal king and a late point blank save from net minder Podge Kennedy.
Incdentally it was Adrian Breen who got our second goal which proved crucial and he went on to have a telling contribution along with Kevin Downes and David Dempsey in particular.
Another good battling performance and one which saw Kieran Kennedy, Cathal King,Will O Donoghue ,David Dempsey and Kevin Downes to the fore.

The Junior B hurlers played Ballybrown in a hard brought City League semi final in Mungret last sunday. Club Notes 05 May 2015
Our senior hurlers opened their Senior hurling Championship account last Friday evening when they travelled to Kilmallock to face Doon.
A wet and windy night made for a very difficult encounter but nonetheless they duly battled bravely.
We got off to a poor start conceding a goal inside the first few minutes but responded well with points from David Sheppard, Adrian Breen and Shane Dowling.
We were hurling well with Michael Foley at wing back and William O Donoghue at midfield in great form along with David Breen who ran on to a great pass to rifle the ball to the Doon net for our first goal.
Further scores from Shane Dowling and two long frees from Ronan Lynch had us in front at the break 1-9 to 1-4 .
The second half we played into the breeze and had to battle hard to keep Doon at bay.
A goal from David Sheppard had us 2-10 to 1-7 in front 10 minutes into the second half but we still could not shake off Doon.
The introduction of ace attacker Kevin Downes after a long lay off proved crucial to our cause as he caught several puck outs and created great oppurtunities for Alan Dempsey who profitted with a brace of points.
We added a third goal from David Breen entering the final few minutes before David was forced off with injury.
Padraic Kennedy was on hand to deny Doon with a vital save near the end and despite a tense last few minutes in which Doon raised a second green flag,we weren’t going to be denied our victory
A tough opening game but one which will no doubt stand to the lads.
Best performers on the day were Mark Buckley, Michael Foley, William O Donoghue, David Sheppard and David Breen

Club Notes 27 April 2015
We made our long awaited return to the top ranks of Limerick Senior Football after an absence of 32 years when we travelled to Clarina to take on Ballysteen.
We began well and had early scores on the board from Kieran Daly and Eoin Hogan.
As was predicted this was a tough game for us and at times our inexperience at this level showed.
We had further scores from the hard working Gordon Brown and Aaron Costelloe to leave us level at the break at 4 points each.
We began the second half with an extra man but at times it didnt show and despite a large chunk of possession we failed to make it count on the scoreboard.
We had some good performances from Gordon Brown, William O Donoghue, Cian Coady and Dean McLoughlin.
In spite of this defeat we will nevertheless learn some valuable lessons and no doubt be stronger for the experience of playing in the top ranks.
Team: Brendan Donnelly, Conor McLoughlin, Dean McLoughlin, Cian Coady, Gordon Brown(0-1), Kevin Nolan(capt), Peter Hodnett, Eoghan Kehilly, William O Donoghue, Brian Shannon, David Dempsey(0-1), Eoin Hogan(0-3f), Alan Dempsey(0-+1), Aaron Costelloe(0-1f), Kieran Daly(0-1), Subs used: Evan Egan, Ronan McKenna, Kieran Barr, Mark Buckley

Our under 14 hurlers were in action on Sunday in the Limerick Feile final in Dooley Park home of South Liberties.
Following a very good semi final victory, confidence was high amongst the squad.
It was evident from the start that we were up against it as our opponents Mungret were much the physically bigger side.
However our lads battled gamely and were well in the game throughout and trailed at the break by four points to one.
We were slowly edging back into the game but conceded a rather soft goal to leave Mungret in the driving seat.
However from there to the finish we tacked on scores through Harry O Donnell’s sharp shooting but try as we might we could not raise a green flag.
We had some good performances from Shane Harney, Sean Hartney, John Moloney,Keith Dempsey and Emmet McEvoy but overall all the lads battled bravely and are a credit to the club.
Final Score: Mungret 1-8 Na Piarsaigh 0-6
Team: Robin Ryan Blake, Evan Sheehan, Shane Harney, Ian Leonard, Sean Hartney, Keith Dempsey, Matthew DeCourcey, John Moloney, John O Connor, Harry O Donnell(0-5F), Emmet McEvoy(0-1), Dean O Donnell, David Hourigan, Justin Norden, Jack Barry. Subs: Damon Lee, Aidan Bourke, Ronan O Gorman, Peader Talbot, Reece Dunne, Gerry Andrews, Mark O Connor, Cormac Frawley, Niall Barrett, Kieran Richardson.
Our junior were in action in the Junior League during the week when they took on Mungret.
We were well in control from start to finish leading 3-9 to 0-2 at the break.
Talking point of the game was the unfortunate accidental collision with ended with center back Tom Cronin with a broken jaw.
We wish Tom a speedy recovery from injury .

Under 21 hurlers
Pride of place most definately goes to our under 21 hurlers who made it a 4 in a row at under 21 level
They travelled to Kilmallck on Sunday to take on Doon in the County Final.
Playing against the breeze in the opening we began well and were two points up inside three minutes from David Dempsey and a Peter Casey free.
Shortly after we were awarded a penalty which saw Ronan Lynch’s rasper come crashing back off the crossbar and away to safety.
We had further points from Peter Casey(3) and Kieran Daly to lead 0-7 to 0-3 before we conceded a softish goal.
We responded well to this set back with some excellent hurling from all lines on the field.
Points from David Dempsey(4),Peter Casey (3) and one from Mike Foley had us in the driving seat 0-14 to 1-4 at half time.
We began the second half with two further points from Mike Foley and Eoghan Keogh to lead 0-16 to 1-5 before a rather tame shot deceived Evan Condon in the goal to give Doon their second goal.
Our man of the match David Dempsey again took command scoring a further 3 points form play to take his tally to 8 points from play against a quality opponent in Richard English.
We had some fine performances from the captain William O Donoghue and Kieran Daly around the middle of the field with Mark Buckley commanding the backs along with Evan O Brien, Gordon Brown and Mike Casey.
Upfront David Dempsey and Peter Casey were excellent along with Tommy Grimes who caught some great ball throughout the game.
Overall a tremendous achievement from the lads not to mention the management trio of Conor Shiels, Tom Millea and Diarmuid Madigan who have been ever present in the four in a row.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 0-22 Don 2-7.

UNDER 15 HURLERS
Our U/15 Hurlers played Ahane in the first of a three game league program last Wednesday evening and recorded a 1-14 to 0-4 win.
Struggling in the opening half, the sides exchanged points and were 2 points a piece at the end of the first quarter with James Daly accurate from placed balls.
By half time, we had opened a 0-6 to 0-2 lead with captain Sean Long very dominant at centre back. A goal mid way through the second half by Conor Stack plus some excellent points from Adam McNamara and David O’Byrne opened daylight between the sides and they ran out comfortable winners. Sterner tests to come against the two sides who defeated us along the way last year, Garryspillane & Mungret.

We dominated in most positions and were never in doubt throughout the game.
Our defence was in fine form with Gearoid Synnott and Evan Gilvarry to the fore.
Our hard working midfield duo of Conor Boylan and Daniel Long supplied some great ball to the forwards where Ger kearms, Peter Casey and Thomas Grimes were prominent on the scoreboard..
A good opening round performance by the team but lots to work on going forward.

UNDER 14 HURLERS
Our under 14 hurlers were in Limerick Feile na nGael action on Sunday when they travelled to Claughaun GAA grounds to take on Ahane in the semi final.
Aided by the breeze in the first half we began slowly and it was our opponents who chalked up the first two scores a goal and a point.
However we gradually settled and had some top class performances from Evan Sheehan, Sean Hartney and Emmett McEvoy .
We led at the break 1-4 to 1-2 our goal courtesy of Emmett McEvoy mid way through the half.
On the change of ends we hurled much better and got some excellent scores from Harry O Donnell and Justin Norden who rifled to the net from close range.
We were hurling well but however it took a timely well executed save from our goalkeeper Robin Ryan Blake in the closing stages to keep Ahane at bay and we closed out the game when Dean O Donnell followed up the rebound from a Harry O Donnell penalty.

Our senior footballers were back in action over the weekend in round 2 of the All County Senior Football League.
This time around our opponents were Fr Casey’s and we travelled back to Tournafulla on Saturday for the game.

It was all square at the break three points a piece with the highlight of the half coming from goalkeeper Brendan Donnellly who stopped a rasper just on the short whistle.
On the resumption Brendan was back in action again to deny Fr Casey’s again with a superb save and overall was excellent between the sticks.
Our teamwork and effort in the second period was very good and points from Alan Dempsey(2) and Eoin Hogan(3) had us in control.
Dean McLoughlin at full back was leading from the front with Gordon Brown and Mark Buckley on the wings working tirelessly.

UNDER 21 HURLERS
The Under 21 hurlers travelled to Kilbreedy on Sunday for their final group game of Group 2.
Their opponents this time were Ahane played in very trying conditions and soft underfoot.
Playing with a very strong wind in the first half we got some excellent scores from a variety of scorers.
We scored two goals in this half courtesy of Conor Boylan and Kieran Daly and led at the break 2-11 to 0-1.
Th second half was tough against the wind but our defence were well on top with Mike Casey, Mark Buckley and Gordon Brown protecting Evan Condon’s goal well.
Further up the field Conor Houlihan and Mike Foley supplied great service to the forwards with David Dempsey, Peter Casey, and Conor Boylan all profitting with some good points.

UNDER 21 HURLERS
Our under 21 hurlers were back in action this weekend in Round 2 of the group stages of the Championship.
Our opponents this time were Doon which was originally fixed for Claughaun but due to the incliment weather was rescheduled for the Gaelic Grounds.
Played in soft underfoot conditions and swirling winds this was always going to a tough encounter.
We began well and had two frees on the board courtesy of Peter Casey but shortly after we conceded a soft goal following a defensive mix up.
It was advantage Doon who tacked on a couple of points to have a healthy five point lead shortly before the break.
However David Dempsey fired home a super goal to send us in just two points adrift 1-5 to 1-3 at the break.
The second half was much improved as we stormed back into the game.
Two excellent points from half time substitute Conor Boylan along with points from Peter Casey and David Dempsey put us in the driving seat as we finished the game on top by two points 1-11to 1-9.
Overall a good battling performance by the team who had good performances from William O Donoghue, David Dempsey,Peter Casey and Eoin Keogh.
Next up for the team are Ahane in the last game of the group next weekend.

Club Notes Feb 16th 2015
Our under 21 hurlers opened up the defence of their crown when they took on Monaleen in Rd 1 of Group 2 on Sunday
Played in very windy conditions in Claughaun GAA Grounds this was always going to be a game of two halves
Playing against the breeze in the opening half we had some early scores from frees from Peter Casey and Ronan Lynch.
However we were matched all the way by our young opponents and we level at the break at 5 points each.
Having to shuffle the pack at the break due to the loss of ace attacker Peter Casey we settled well to our task.
A long range effort from William O Donoghue found the net to give us the tonic start to the second half.
We slowly began to show our class and with scores from Conor Boylan(2), Thomas Grimes(2), Ronan Lynch (2) and a goal from David Dempsey we finsihed the game on a high with a final scoreline of Na Piarsaigh 2-13 Monaleen 0-07.
Team: Evan Condon, Michael Casey, Mark Buckley, Lee Coughlan, Conor Houlihan, Ronan Lynch(0-43f), Gordon Brown, Michael Foley(0-), William O Donoghue(1-1), Thomas Grimes(0*3), David Dempsey(1-1), Eoghan Keogh, Evan O Brien, Evan Egan, Peter Casey(0-1f), Subs: Conor Boylan(0-2), Josh O Halloran, Kieran Daly, Dean McLoughlin

Under 21 Footballers
Our under 21 footballers were in City Final action on Sunday evening when they travelled accross the City to Rhebogue.
Played in very cold and foggy conditions both teams served up a very high brand of football.
We began brightly and had some early scores from David Dempsey, Ronan McKenna and Evan Condon.
Our link play was good with the impressive midfield duo of David Dempsey and Will O Donoghue leading the way with some good delivery.
We conceded a rather soft goal mid way through the half to allow St Pats back into the game but our lads continued working hard and furhter points from Eoghan Keogh and William O Donoghue had us level at the break 1-3 to 0-6 at the break.
An Evan Egan free began the second half for us but again the concession of a rather soft goal let our opponents back into the game .This goal proved crucial as try as we might we could not get the vital scores.
Our other scores of the half came from William O Donoghue, Evan Egan and David Dempsey in what was a very entertaining game.
We had very solid performances all over the field with our midfield duo in fine form along with Michael Casey at center back ably assisted by Mark Buckley and Ronan McKenna.
In spite of defeat we showed glimpses of excellent link play and teamwork and a little bit more composure in front of goal would have reaped reward for all the possession we had.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 0-11 St Patrick’s 2-8
Team: Brian Burke, Alan Finnegan, Dean McLoughlin, Josh O Halloran, Mark Buckley, Michael Casey, Thomas Grimes, William O Donoghue(0-2), David Dempsey(0-2), Dylan Cronin, Ronan McKenna(0-1), Kieran Daly, Evan Egan(0-2,1f), Evan Condon(0-1), Eoghan Keogh(0-2). Subs used: Niall Earls

Club Notes 27 Oct 2014
On Saturday evening our junior hurlers contested the County Final against Feohanagh Castlemahon in the Gaelic Grounds.
This was a good game of hurling with very little between the teams throughout.
We recovered well having conceded a third minute goal and trailed by a solitary point 1-5 to 0-7 at the break.
Once again we were slow out of the blocks and the concession of a second goal at the start of the second half put us to the sword.
However in true Na Piarsaigh fashion we battled hard and four unanswered points seemed to have given us the victory which was concurred by the match official at the final whistle.
Five minutes after the whistle and in the throws of celebration it was deemed by county board chairman that the game ended level.
Indeed a very difficult decision to take and one that will rankle for a long time.
A replay is the likely event sometime around Nov 8/9th TBC.
For the record David Lynch and Gordon Brown were excellent throughout snuffing out any danger that came their way, while captain Paul McNamara was excellent from placed balls.
Final Score!!!! na Piarsaigh 0-15 Feohanagh Castlemahon 2-9.
team: Evan Condon, Tomas Downes, Brian Hartnett, Gordon Brown, David Lynch, Josh O Halloran, Paul Downes, Kieran Daly, Eoin Hogan, Thomas Grimes, Paul McNamara(capt), Brian Shannon, Evan Egan, Eoghan Keogh, Damien Quigley.
U/11 City League . Our U/11s continued their participation in the City League with 2 great games against Mungret and Ballybrown last Friday evening at St Patricks GAA Field. On the night we recorded 1 victory & 1 defeat but the real story of the night was our tremendous fighting display as we went down narrowly to an excellent Ballybrown team. Cian Brosnan’s terrific performances in both games , particularly against Mungret, was also a highlight. This is a very beneficial tournament and thanks to St Pats and all concerned for organising facilities, pitches etc .
U/12 Friendly against Monaleen. Last Sunday Monaleen came into our newly surfaced pitch and played out a great game against our team.. The contest was very even throughout but thanks to excellent performances from Stephen Mitchell , Dillon Skehan, Patrick O’ Neill and Frankie Naughton we fortunately edged out a narrow victory 6-6 to 5-5. Of particular note by all was the outstanding display of Marcus Hogan at half forward. Well done all.
The lotto jackpot is now at €20,000 following Mondays draw.
The numbers drawn were 9,15, 22, 23.
Lucky dip winners were Helen Casey, Paddy Verdon, Lucy Hartnett, Frank Holohan.

Club Notes 29 Sept 2014
Congratulations to our junior hurlers who were crowned City Junior hurling champions on Saturday after a tough battle against Patrickswell in the Gaelic Grounds.
Playing with the breeze in the first half we got some good scores from Evan Egan(3), Thomas Grimes(2), Damien Quigley, Paul Downes and Paul McNamara(3) and Kieran Daly to lead at the break 0-12 to 1-5.
Our defence was very solid throughout the game, superbly marshalled by Josh o Halloran at center back and backed up well by David Lynch and Brian Shannon
Our midfield duo of Mark Ryan and Kieran Daly worked tirelessly for the team while up front it was veteran Damien Quigley who showed well along with nippy Evan Egan and Peter Casey.
Overall a good team performance and good preparation for a County quarter final versus Staker Wallace in the coming weeks.
Team: Evan Condon, Brian Shannon, Brian Hartnett, Gordon Brown, David Lynch, Josh O Halloran, Paul Downes(0-1), Kieran Daly(0-2), Mark Ryan, Thomas Grimes(0-2), Paul McNamara(0-4,3f),Peter Casey(0-4,1f),Pat McCarthy(0-1), Damien Quigley(0-1), Evan Egan(0-3).
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 0-18 Patrickswell 1-12
Our Intermediate Footballers were in County Semi Final action on Sunday when they took on Cappamore in Caherconlish.
We began the game extremely well keeping possession and scoring some lovely points to race into a 4point lead.
Our midfield pairing of William O Donoghue and Eoghan Kehilly were particularly dominant fielding some great ball.
Captain Kevin Nolan marshalled the backs well with Mark Buckley and Peter Hodnett surging forward at every opportunity.
Our opponents slowly worked themselves in the game and created several goal chances which were snuffed out by Brendan Donnelly in goals.
We led at half time 0-7 to 0-2 and may have been further ahead but for some poor shooting.
In the second half Cappamore hit a purple patch and were causing a lot of difficulty for our defence.
It was nip and tuck entering the final quarter when lady luck smiled on us.
A defensive mix up between two Cappamore defenders allowed Aaron Costelloe the easiest of tasks to tap the ball into the net from close range to give us a three point lead and one which we held to the finish.
Overall a good team performance and we now look forward tothe County Final where our opponents will be St Senans.
Team: Brendan Donnelly, Dean McLoughlin, Cian Coady, Alan Finnegan, Mark Buckley, Kevin Nolan(capt), Peter Hodnett, Eoghan Kehilly, William O Donoghue(0-1), Brian Shannon(0-2), Aaron Costelloe(1-2), Eoin Hogan(0-2), Evan Egan, Kieran Daly(0-1), Noel Shannon(0-1). Under 14 Footballers
Our under 14 footballers were back in County Championship action on Friday evening when they travelled to Mick Neville Park Rathkeale to take on Kilpeacon( Crecora/Manister/ Fedamore) in the semi final.
Minus the services of several key players the strength of the panel was really tested.
Minutes in to the game our opponents were awarded a penalty which was dispatched past the diving Eoin Sherlock.
However for the remainder of the half the lads dominated all sectors except on the scoreboard where our shooting left a lot to be desired.
This would ultimately be our downfall as we trailed at the break 1-2 to 0-3.
Playing against the wind in the second half we fought bravely and really brought the game to Kilpeacon, but our concession of two second half goals, a second penalty was to be end of the line.
We did manage to score a perfectly good goal with 5 minutes left but for some strange reason the referee decided to disallow it.
And so our long successful season comes to an end and huge compliments must go to the management and entire panel of players who worked so hard throughout the season.
Team: Eoin SHerlock, Conor Moloney, David O Byrne, Shane Harney, Killian Dineen, Sean Long(0-1), Ian Leonard, Jay Hickey, Adam McNamara, David Ryan, Emmett McEvoy, James Daly, Jack Barry, Jack O Sulivan(1-4), Dean O Donnell.
Final Score Kilpeacon 3-4 Na Piarsaigh 1-5
Under 16 Hurlers
The under 16 hurlers were also in County semi final action over the weekend when they travelled across town to face a fancied Murroe Boher side in Claughaun GAA Club grounds.
Due to the long break between games the management were anxious that we hit the ground running from the first whistle and they duly obliged.
With a strong breeze at our backs we got some great scores Conor Boylan, Daniel Long, Lucas O Sullivan and William Henn whose free taking was excellent throughout.
We scored two first half goals courtesy of Lucas O Sullivan and midfield dynamo Joe Gleeson to put us in control at the break 2-08 to0-6.
It was agreed that the game was far from over at half time and a Murroe onslaught was expected especially with the breeze at their backs.
However our defence was excellent with Gearoid Synnott doing an excellent job on the rangy Murroe Boher full forward.
Padraig Heaney and Conor Richardson on either side were excellent mopping up any loose ball while Jerome Boylan at center back was excellent along with Mark Considine beside him.
Two well taken second half goals from ace attacker Conor Boylan and a fifth from Jamie Mawhinney sealed victory and an excellent team performance.
It is now Kilmallock in the final in a couple of weeks time.
Team: Sean McKeogh, Padraic Heaney, Evan Gilvarry, Conor Richardson, Nathan Bennis Whelan, Jerome Boylan, Mark Considine, Joe Gleeson(1-3)Donal O Connall, Lucas O SUllivan(1-1), Conor Boylan(2-2), Daniel Long(0-1), Reuben McCarthy, Gearoid Synnott, William Henn(0-4,3f).Subs: Jamie Mawhinney(1-0)
Under 12 Hurlers
The U/12 Hurling Navy team completed their league programme recently with a very good game against Mungret.
Aided by a very strong wind, Na Piarsaigh were quickest to settle and raced into an early 2 goal lead, both coming from Patrick O’ Neill who continues his recent excellent form.
John Fitzgerald was excellent at centre back in this opening period and , together with the rest of the backs, worked tirelessly to repel frequent Mungret attacks. Dillon Skehan added to our score with an excellent point and , with JJ Carey playing his best game yet for Na Piarsaigh at midfield , our lads began to build a comfortable lead before half time. The 2nd half was a different story as Mungret rallied very well with the elements behind them. Our backs were under tremendous pressure but James Naughton, Stephen Mitchell & Colm Downey were heroic in defence when called upon. All our lads were very tenacious and disciplined throughout this second half & eventually earned a narrow victory. We also played Monaleen last Sunday week and , in a very close & high scoring game , again ran out victors by the narrowest of margins with particular highlights being the great performance of Dillon Skehan at midfield and a spectacular 2nd half goal by the ever improving Charles Hogan. Well done all.
Our senior hurlers wrapped up their group unbeaten following a fifth consecutive victory when they saw off the challenge of Ballybrown in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday.
We got off to a perfect start when Kevin Downes goaled inside the first 5 minutes to set us on our way.
Points from Ronan Lynch(2), Alan Dempsey and Shane Dowling increased our tally and our second goal came courtesy of a 21 yard free from Shane Dowling to send us in 4 in front 2-9 to 2-5 at the break.
This was a close game with no more than a few points between the teams until the final few minutes when Adrian Breen added our third goal to seal victory.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 3-17 Ballybrown 2-11
We now await the results from next Sundays quarter finals before knowing our opponents in the semi final on Sept 28th
Team: Padraic Kennedy, Michael Casey, Kieran Breen, Mark Buckley, Cathal King, David Breen, Ronan Lynch(0-2,1f), Alan Dempsey(0-2), Pat Gleeson, James O Brien, Kevin Downes(1-2), David Dempsey(0-1),Adrian Breen(1-1), Shane Dowling(1-9,7f), William O Donoghue
Our junior hurlers had a pretty facile victory over St Patricks on Sunday afternoon.
Two first half goals from Peter Casey and an Evan Egan goal in the second half along with 7 points from play from David Sheppard were the highlights in a 3-24 to 0-10 victory.
A semi final next against Ballybrown with no time or date yet announed.
The jackpot now stands at €19,500 following last Monday’s draw.
The numbers drawn were 1, 8, 12, 30. No jackpot winner.

Club Notes 25 August 2014
Our senior hurlers qualified for the County Semi Finals on Tuesday after a hard fought group game versus Granagh Ballingarry where we had to come from behind to record this win.
Granagh raced into a seven points to two lead but the accuracy of Shane Dowling kept us in touch and trailed at the break by a goal 1-9 to 0-9.
We finally hit a purple patch midway through the second half and goals from David Dempsey and Kevin Downes put us in front 2-16 to 2-12 and from there to the finish we traded points to make it four wins from four starts.
We now have one group game remaining against Ballybrown before the semi final line is decided.
Our minor hurlers had a very good victory over Doon in the Championship on Wednesday evening on home soil.
A very good team performance with Peader Collins and Thomas Grimes particularly dominant in the backline along with the speedy Kieran Daly at midfield. Upfront Marcus McManemy and Peter Casey were to the fore along with Conor Boylan who contributed three points.

We conceeded three first half goals and traailed by two points at half time 3-2 to 1-6.

Junior B Hurlers
Our Junior B hurlers finally got off the mark in the City Junior Hurling Championship when they entertained Patrickswell in Pairc Dromguil on Wednesday evening.
Played in excellent conditions we began the game well and got some great scores from Aaron Costelloe(2), Ray O Brien, David Sheehan(1-2), Eddie O Neill and Gordon Leonard.
Our two first half goals coming within minutes of each other from Daragh Kennedy and David Sheehan who was having a great battle with his opposite number.
We led at the break 2-7 to 1-6 which was mainly due to the excellent work of the six backs superbly marshalled by full backs Tom Quinn and Brian Buckley along with Jason Ronan and David Broderick on the wings.
We continued our good hurling after the break and some good point taking from Gordon Leonard(0-5,4f), Evan O Brien, Ray O Brien and a second David Sheehan goal gave us a lead we would never relinquish.
Overall a very satisfying performance from the lads who are finally benefitting from the back to back games.
The management team of Cian Kelly, Kenny Leonard and Emmet Beston will be extremely happy with the teams progress and no doubt look forward to their next outing v Ballybrown on Aug 10th

The forwards looked dangerous when in posession and a fine move ended with the Brick brothers engineering a good goal. The goal being scored by Timmy Brick following a superb pass by his brother William.

Under 12 Footballers
Our under 12 footballers travelled to Rhebogue last Thursday night to take on the St. Patricks. We started well with an early point from Patrick O Neill, but St. Patricks replied with a couple of goals and a point. Our midfield duo of Charles Hogan and JJ Carey began to get a grip on the game which led to three good scores from us, a goal for Charles Hogan and points from JJ Carey and Cian Brosnan to leave the half time score of 2-1 to 1-3 to St. Patricks.
St Patricks made a couple of changes at half time and began to get on top all over the pitch. We conceded a couple of goals early on, and the backs of Steven Mitchell, Cathal Hassett and Mark O Connor played well and were under pressure for a lot of the game. We tried gallantly, and even though we scored another good team goal, we gave up some more scores and were beaten by the better team on the night.
Well done to all players involved: Jamie Power, Cathal Hassett, Steven Mitchell, Mark O Connor, Dylan Lynch, Charles Hogan, J.J. Carey, Marcus Hogan, Patrick O Neill, Sam Mullane, Cian Brosnan and David Burke.

Oola piled on the pressure in the second half and led by 1pt. with time up. We won a free near the sideline 21yds out and up stepped Evan Egan and he cooly put the ball over the bar to level. The lads can be proud of the way they fought until the final whistle to get this draw.

Playing good football in the first half we led 1 – 6 to 1 – 3 at half-time, Shane O Connor with the goal. Under 11 Hurlers
Last Thursday evening our U/11 hurlers played Mungret in a great game. Mungret had their pitch in great condition and both teams played with great skill and tenacity throughout. Although Na Piarsaigh got off to a great start with a fine goal from Patrick O’ Neill, Mungret dominated the early stages of the game. However, some outstanding clearing and tackling by our half back line of Luke Hegarty, Dylan Lynch & Harry McGoey prevented Na Piarsaigh from falling behind . George Cussen was also excellent at corner back . A few breakaway scores from Patrick O Neill helped Na Piarsaigh to a 6 point lead at half time. Na Piarsaigh started the 2nd half very well with John Fitzgerald continuing his recent great form at midfield while Stephen Mitchell and Ryan Naughton came more and more into the game. Mungret rallied half way though the 2nd half and were unlucky not to be closer at the end of a game which Na Piarsaigh won by 5 points . A great team performance by our lads with Vincent Harrington giving a great display of goalkeeping throughout with Adam Long and Ryan Naughton in particular playing very well in defence. Patrick O’ Neill had a great game and was outstanding from open play and frees. Shane Kelly also played very well and marked his debut with an excellent goal.

- Senior HurlersOur senior hurlers made it two out of two with a hard fought victory over South Liberties at rain swept Claughan on Saturday evening.
We got off to the best possible start when corner forward William O Donoghue capitalised on a great ball in to rifle the ball to the net to give us an early lead.
However playing into the teeth of a strong wind we struggled for long periods and it was South Liberties who did most of the scoring and led at the interval 0-10 to 1-3 with our three points coming from Ronan Lynch, William O Donoghue and Shane Dowling.
Playing with the breeze in the second half we slowly clawed our way into the game with the unerring accuracy of Ronan Lynch from placed balls the highlight of the half.
Further points from William O Donoghue and David Dempsey sealed our victory on a final score line of Na Piarsaigh 1-13 South Liberties 0-12.
A tough battle in deplorable conditions but no doubt this game will stand to the team in the weeks ahead.
Good performances from David Breen, Cathal King, Ronan Lynch and William O Donoghue.
Team: Padraic Kennedy, Michael Casey, Cathal King, Kieran Kennedy, Aidan Hennessy, David Breen, James O Brien, Pat Gleeson, Alan Dempsey, Ronan Lynch(0-9, 8f), Kevin Downes, David Dempsey(0-1), Kevin Ryan, Shane Dowling(0-1), William O Donoghue(1-2).Junior HurlersOur junior hurlers were in City League action on Thursday evening against St Patricks in Rhebogue.
Minus the services of several regulars we struggled at times and conceded three first half goals which ultimately proved the difference in the end. We trailed at half time 3-4 to 0-10 with some good scores from free taker Mike Brougham along with Pat McCarthy, Kieran Daly, Conor Houlihan and Thomas Grimes.
Try as we might in the second half we could not find the decisive scores to peg back our opponents.
Nevertheless a battling performance by the team on a final score of St Patricks 3-10 Na Piarsaigh 0-15
Under 12 Footballers
Our under 12 footballers travelled to Cappamore last Thursday night to take on the locals.
Cappamore started well with two early goals but some resolute defending from Steven Mitchell, Cathal Hassett, Sean O Halloran and Dylan Lynch coupled with some great saves from goalkeeper Jamie Pearse kept the scoreline down.
Our midfield duo of Charles and Marcus Hogan began to get a grip on the game which led to two good goals from JJ Carey and points from Rian O Connell to leave the half time score of 2-5 to 2-3 in Cappamore”s favour.
We began the second half well and had a third goal courtesy of Cian Brosnan following good work from Patrick O Neill and David Bourke. Cappamore continued to battle and drew level going into the final few minutes.
However a Dylan Lynch 45 sent into the goalmouth before Rian O Connell pounced with a great goal to secure a victory for the team. Overall a brilliant team performance from the lads.
The jackpot now stands at €17,700 following last Tuesdays draw.
The numbers drawn were 3, 7, 15 and 32.

May 6th 2014
Our senior hurlers returned to Championship action on Sunday evening when they took on 2012 Champions Kilmallock inn Round 1 of the new look County Senior Hurling Championship in Bruff.
Playing against a strong breeze in the first half we found ourselves in arrears 1-03 to 0-2 courtesy of a goal from Gavin O Mahoney.
However the lads were playing well and slowly got to grips with their opponents.Aidan Hennessy and Cathal King led the defence with style snuffing out the dangers as they arose.
Points from Alan Dempsey, Pat Gleeson, William O Donoghue, Kevin Downes and Shane Dowling frees kept us well in the contest but with five minutes to the break we trailed by 6points.
We had a superb solo goal from new captain Kevin Downes leading by example to leave the minimum between the teams 1-10 to 1-9 at half time.
The second half was one way traffic when the lads upped the tempo and produced some excellent scores with none better than a brace of line balls from county minor Ronan Lynch.
The decisive score again coming from the captain following a 21 yard free stopped by Padraic Kennedy in the goals which was worked up the field to give us a four point swing.
Further points from Kevin Downes, William O Donoghue, Ronan Lynch and Shane Dowling and a second goal from Kevin Ryan sealed a very good performance by the lads.
Our stand out performers were Padraic Kennedy, Aidan Hennessy, Cathal King, Pat Gleeson, Kevin Downes and William O Donoghue.
Next up for the lads are South Liberties next Saturday in Claughan.
Team: Padraic Kennedy, Michael Casey, Cathal King, Niall Buckley, Aidan Hennessy(0-1), David Breen, James O Brien, Alan Dempsey(0-2), Pat Gleeson(0-1), Ronan Lynch(0-4,2 line balls), Kevin Downes(1-3), David Dempsey, Kevin Ryan(1-0), Shane Dowling(0-7,6f), William O DOnoghue(0-2). Under 21 Hurlers
Massive congratulations to our under 21 hurlers who annexed the county championship making it a three in a row for the club.
In a tight first half we played into a stiff wind and got some great scores from Thomas Grimes, Peter Casey, Eoghan Keogh and free taker Shane Dowling.
Goal chances were at a premium however but Eoghan Keogh had a glorious chance following a surging run from William O Donoghue. We also have Evan Condon to thank for a super save to keep the Well at bay.
We led at one stage 8 points to 5 however our opponents stormed back into the game to lead by two points at the break 0-10 to 0-08.
We began the second half with two huge long range points from center back Ronan Lynch and when Thomas Grimes netted to put us six in front there was only going to be one winner.
The lads continued to pick off some magnificent scores especially from corner forwards Evan Egan and Peter Casey who contributed 7 points between them. A brilliant second half performance by the entire team.
David Dempsey rounding off the victory with our second green flag of the day to leave the final score of 2-22 to 1-14
Overall a brilliant team performance from one to twenty one and one the management can be extremely proud of.
Team: Evan Condon, Josh O Halloran, Mark Buckley, Kevin McNamara, Michael Casey(0-1), Ronan Lynch(0-2,1f), Ciaran Keogh(0-1), William O Donoghue, Michael Foley(0-1), Thomas Grimes(1-1), Shane Dowling(0-4,2f), David Dempsey(1-3), Peter Casey(0-4), Eoghan Keogh(0-2), Evan Egan(0-3).Subs: Lee Coughlan, Ronan Houlihan, Dylan Cronin, Gordon Brown, Evan O Brien, Eoghan Foley
The intermediate footballers opened their Championship campaign in great fashion seeing off the challenge of Mungret.
Boosted by the inclusion of County Minor star Kieran Daly who contributed nicely with a goal and two points.
We began well and had early scores on the board from Eoin Hogan and a pointed free from Aaron Costelloe who kicked well throughout.
Mid way through the half we had our first goal when a surging run from Daragh Kennedy from midfield opened the space for Kieran Daly to finish well.
Further points from Daragh Kennedy, Ronan McKenna and Aaron Costelloe sent us in at the break 1-05 to 0-03 in front.
The second half continued in similiar fashion with points from Kieran Daly and Aaron Costelloe.
Our backs were playing very well superbly marshalled by captain Kevin Nolan, Alan Finnegan, Dean McLoughlin and Peter Hodnett on the wings.
Eoghan Kehilly and Daragh Kennedy went quietly about their work at midfield whilst upfront Eoin Hogan, Kieran Daly and Aaron Costelloe were always a threat.
A great ball through to Eoin Hogan should have yielded a second goal but the goalkeeper somehow managed to deflect the shot over.
At the other end Brendan Donnelly saved superbly to keep out the effort of Danny Galvin at a crucial stage.
Our final and decisive score came from the boot of the hard working Cian Coady who received a defence splitting pass from Kieran Daly to dispatch to the net to all but seal our first victory.
Overall a very good workmanlike performance by the team who now look forward to round 2 against Oola.
Team: Brendan Donnelly, Pat Gleeson, Kevin Nolan/(capt), Alan Finnegan, Dean McLoughlin, Mike Roberts, Peter Hodnett, Eoghan Kehilly, Daragh Kennedy(0-1), Noel Shannon, Cian Coady(1-0), Ronan McKenna(0-1),

Our under 14 footballers annexed the Under 14 Feile Peil na nOg B title when the defeated city rivals Ballybrown in Claughan

Well done to Mark O Donnell and his fellow selectors on a great job done on this team.
Our Junior second string opened their campaign with a short trip to Patrickswell.
After a slow start we gradually began to find our range and got some fine scores from Gordon Leonard from placed balls.
Ray O Brien and Thomas Grimes also contributed to the scoreboard with some good points and the latter very unlucky
not to raise a green flag.
We hurled well in patches and were well in the game until the closing stages when the Well tacked on some late points to secure the victory 0-19 to 0-12.

Under 14 Feile Hurlers
Our under 14 hurlers bowed out of this years Feile na nGael competition when losing out by a single point to Garryspillane.
Played on Sunday morning in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale in beautiful sunshine we began extremely slowly and trailed to two early scores from the Bouncers. We slowly worked ourselves back into the game and reap the rewards of some hard work to raise a green flag courtesy of David O Byrne.
Despite playing against a strong wind, we were competing well and may have had more scores if the accuracy was a little better.
Just before half time we conceded a very soft goal which went all the way to the net from a longe range free.
We trailed at the break 1-3 to 1-0.
The second half was much improved as we piled on the pressure. John Leahy and Keith Dempsey were hurling very well along with Ralph Leonard and Eoin Sherlock.
Some long range scores from Sean Long brought the game to a single point but try as we might the equalising score just would not come.
In spite of the disappointment of losing we will no doubt learn from this defeat and be far more prepared come championship time.
Final score Garryspillane 1-6 Na Piarsaigh 1-5
Team: Barry Dunworth, Keith Dempsey, Mark Daly, John Leahy, Eoin Sherlock, Sean Long, Ralph Leonard, Emmet McEvoy, Liam Barry, David Ryan, Adam McNamara, Harry O Donnell, Mark Boylan, David O Byrne, James Daly. Subs used/: John Moloney
Our junior hurlers travelled to Clarina on Saturday to take on Kildimo Pallaskenry in the City Intermediate final.
We began well with both corner forwards Dylan Cronin and Evan Egan seeing plenty of possession.
Our backs were under pressure early on and took a while to settle. Our opponents were showing their pedigree with some good scores but also profitted from some soft frees.
We raised our only green flag mid way through the half from the stick of Mike Brougham to trail 1-09 to 1-05 at the break.
Playing with the wind in the second half we took a foothold in the game and got some good scores from frees from midfield dynamo Pat Gleeson to lead going into the final quarter.
It was our opponents who finished the stronger to run out winners on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-11.
Despite the disappointment the management have plenty to work on.
We had good showing from Brian Hartnett at center back whilst Pat Gleeson at midfield ran himself to a standstill.
Team: Evan Condon, Mark Buckley, Paul McNamara, Kevin McNamara, David Lynch, Brian Hartnett, Ciaran Keogh, Michael Foley, Pat Gleeson(0-7f), Paul Downes(0-1), John Madden, Eoghan Keogh, Dylan Cronin, Mike Brougham(1-1), Evan Egan.Subs: David Sheppard(0-1)Mark Ryan
The intermediate camogie team were in League action on Monday when they travelled to Caherelly to take on Bruff.
We were minus several regulars on the day and this shone through but nevertheless a great battling performance by the girls. We had good performances from the ever improving Sarah Connors, Leanne Egan, Michelle Fahy in defence while up front Claire Casey, Olivia Barrett and Gemma Healy work tirelessly for the team.
Congrats to Aoife and Jane Wilson, Sinead McNamara and Laura O Neill who are all part of the victorious Limerick Minor Camogie team who defeated Galway last weekend.

Under 14 Hurlers
The U14 hurlers got their Féile na nGael campaign off to a winning start defeating Kilmallock 4 – 8 to 1 – 2. Playing into the wind in the opening half, the groundwork was made when we led at the break 2 – 4 to 1 – 1.
Captain James Daly and David O’Byrne scored 1 –1 a piece with David Ryan and Adam McNamara chipping in with points in a half where the side exhibited some lovely passing movements.
Despite being wind assisted in the second half, we found it hard to break down the Kilmallock defence and it took two late goals from David O’Byrne to secure his hat trick to seal a semi-final spot where we will meet Garryspillane next Sunday.
Team: Robin Ryan-Blake, Keith Dempsey, John Leahy, Mark Daly, Justin Norden, Sean Long (0 – 1 ‘65), Robert Duffy, Liam Barry, David Ryan (0 – 1), Ralph Leonard, Adam McNamara (0 – 1), Harry O’Donnell (0 – 2 frees), James Daly capt (1 – 1), David O’Byrne (3 – 1), Emmet McEvoy (0 – 1). Our intermediate Footballers were in City Senior Football Final action on Friday night when they travelled across town to Rhebogue to take on St Patricks.
Playing against the wind in the first half we struggled to contain the St Pats forwards and found ourselves conceding needless frees which were duly converted.
Our attack receiving limited possession we nevertheless wasteful and only registered a single score in the the first half coming from the boot of Niall Earls from a placed ball.
The introduction of Kevin Downes gave us more power around the middle third and his direct running caused problems for our opponents.
Eoghan Kehilly, Dean McLoughlin and Pat Gleeson showing well in the half along with Ciaran Ryan and Evan Egan but the scores we not forthcoming.
We trailed at the break 0-09 to 0-01.
We were much improved in the second half and a surging run following a neat passing move led to a penalty which was cooly dispatched by Aaron Costelloe.
Innaccuracy and a lack of discipline proving our downfall overall with St Pats scoring 9 points of the 13 tally from frees.
There were many positives to take from the performance and no doubt bainisteoir Pat McHugh will be working hard to rectify some of the faults prior to the championship.
Final Score : Na Piarsaigh 1-04 St Patricks 0-13
Team: Brendan Donnelly, Pat Gleeson, Kevin Nolan, Dean McLoughlin, Peter Hodnett, Eoghan Kehilly, Mike Roberts, Ciaran Ryan, Niall Earls(0-1), Evan Egan, Cian Coady, Noel Shannon, Alan Dempsey, Aaron Costelloe(1-2f), Evan Condon. Subs/: Eoin Hogan(0-1), Kevin Downes, Shane O Connor, David Lambe,
Under 21 Hurlers:
Our under 21 hurlers qualified for another final on Sunday evening when they overcame a resolute Doon team.
Played in Bruff in good conditions we began sluggishly and found ourselves five points to two down after 15 minutes.
A powerful run through the middle by David Dempsey caused havoc and led to a 21 yard free which Shane Dowling rifled to the net.
This gave the team fresh impetus and we drove on to finish the half strongly.
We began the second half like a train and some great team scores had us seven points to the good.
A great overall team performance in a tough tough battle where a great determination and will to win was in evidence.
We now look forward to a repeat of last years final against Patrickswell in two weeks.

Our under 14 footballers had a good win in the quarter finals of the Feile Peil na nOg when they defeated Athea 5-07 to 0-1. We began very tentatively and it was our opponents who took an early lead. Ralph Leonard settled the nerves with a good point and this was swiftly followed by a cracking goal from Liam Barry following great build up work.
This was followed up soon after by points from David O Byrne and John Moloney and a second goal this time from the boot of Emmet McEvoy to send us in at the break 2-03 to 0-1 to the good.
The second half was all one way traffic and a third goal from Emmet McEvoy put us in the driving seat.
At this stage captain Jay Hickey and Liam Barry were exerting huge dominance on the game from midfield which opened up big chances for our forwards.

Under 21 Hurlers
Our under 21 hurlers were back in action tonight when they took on City rivals Patrickswell in the Gaelic Grounds in round 2 of the Championship group stages.
Following our good victory in round 1 over Deel Rangers we were hoping to kick on and establish ourselves in the Group.
We were largely outplayed in the first half with our opponents scoring well from long range and an accurate free taker.
Mid way through the half we found ourselves 5 points in arrears, however Ronan Lynch seized upon a deflected shot to kick to the net from close range.Further points from Ronan and Mike Foley dragged us right back into the game to trail by the minimum 0-09 to 1-05.
We were much improved in the second half and with scores from Ronan Lynch(2),the impressive Peter Casey with his second point and also points from sub Conor Houlihan and a brace from midfielder William O Donoghue had us in front going into the final stages.
Two further points from the Well and a very dubious penalty conversion turned the tide in their favour and despite a late rally we could not secure the vital scores.
We had good displays from Michael Casey, Micheal Foley and Josh O Halloran in defence while upfront it was young Peter Casey who led the forwards ably assisted by Evan Egan and Conor Houlihan.
We now face Bruff next Tuesday in what is now a very important game.

Under 21 Hurlers
The under 21 hurlers made the best possible start to their Championship campaign when they saw off the challenge of a resolute Deel Rangers side in the Gaelic Grounds on Tuesday evening.
With no fewer than 13 of Sean Stacks senior panel on show in the starting 15,it was expected that a strong showing would result.
However the men from the South West of the County had other ideas and proved a tough nut to crack.
First half goals from David Dempsey and Ronan Houlihan sent us in at the break 4 points to the good 2-04 to 0-06.
Our defence were expertly lead by Mark Buckley at full back, with a half back line of Michael Casey, Shane Dowling and Michael Foley showing well throughout.
Shortly after the restart we scored our third goal from the stick of Ronan Lynch who shot expertly to the net to open up an eight point gap.
Points were traded by the teams and despite a late Deel Rangers goal, we saw out a very good opening day win
