Senior Hurlers finally off the mark

Our senior hurlers were back in Championship action on Saturday where they travelled to nearby Clarina to face Intermediate Champions Bruree.
Following two consecutive defeats to Kilmallock and Doon in the first two rounds of the championship, it was imperative that we get back to winning ways.
With the team shuffled it was a chance to see players in new positions.
We began sharply and imposed our game on Bruree almost immediately with some great points from Ronan Lynch, Shane Dowling, Alan Dempsey and Kevin Downes.
Some excellent interplay and stout defending has us on the front foot throughout and our dominance was copper fastened by a goal from David Sheppard to leave us in total control at the break 1-15 to 0-1
The second half was continued where we left off with some excellent play and great discipline shown.
Further goals from David Breen, Shane Dowling with 2 one of which came from a 20 meter free, David Sheppard with 2 and Kevin Downes gave us a comfortable win.
We played well and had good displays from James O Brien, Mike Casey, Tommy Grimes, David Breen, Alan Dempsey and David Sheppard.
We are now on a 6 week break while the Limerick senior hurlers take precedent before resuming with round 4 over the August weekend against South liberties.

Under 14 Camogie lift Cup

Congratulations to the under 14 camogie girls who won the Under 14C League Final with a close fought victory over Cappamore Treaty Gaels in Monaleen GAA Grounds on Tuesday evening.

This was an excellent game with no quarter asked or given. It was Cappamore Treaty Gaels who had the better of the first half with a fine display of free taking.
We had some excellent free taking of our own courtesy of captain Enya Harrington who worked her socks off.She was ably assisted throughout the team with Eabha Benson, Aine Tierney, Grace Palmer, Sarah Murray and Laura Aherne most prominent.
We trailed at the break by 4 points to 2.
The second half we improved no end and began to dominate proceedings. However we only had added a solitary point to our tally entering the closing minutes courtesy of Moya Henn.
We finally unlocked the Cappamore Treaty Gaels rearguard following several attempts and it was Katie Keane who delivered the winning score.
This put us in the lead for the first time but the drama continued and it was goalkeeper Ciara Grant who pulled off a vital save to maintain our lead.
An overall brilliant performance from the girls and well done to all concerned.

Under 11 Hurlers review

Busy couple of weeks for U11 hurlers with a home and away friendly fixture versus Monaleen fulfilled.
A substantial group of twenty competed admirably for the first home game where a 13-a-side (plus rolling subs) game on a big pitch kept the vocal support happy with the performance.
The away fixture proved more difficult for all concerned with the result going the other way, and players – and indeed coaches! – feeling a little dejected.
Overall great to get a couple of competitive games to test us an we look forward to the challenges ahead. Much credit due to parents getting the lads out twice a week of late.
Looking forward to a trip to nearby Clare neighbours Tulla soon, as well as a home tournament the day before the Bike/Run/Walk on June 11th, and a mighty trip to Cork the week after.
