Under 14 Camogie girls reach County League Final

Well done to the Under 14 camogie team who qualified for the County Under 14B Final following an excellent win over Ballybrown in Pairc Dromguil on Saturday.
Playing with the wind in the first half the girls played very well and got some good scores.
Goals from Eva Long and Sarah Stanley helped give us a half time lead of 2-2 to 1-0.
The second half saw a great battling performance from the girls, hooking, blocking and working very hard for each other. This hard work payed off with the defence refusing to concede the all important scores that Ballybrown sought out.
Ciara Grant our netminder was busy in the last few minutes but coped admirably with the threat whilst in front of her Maeve Brown, Sarah Murray and  Niamh Skehan defended stoutly.
Out the field Aine O Tiarnaigh showed her prowess with an array of skills and up front Sarah Stanley, Aishling Fahey, Eva Long and Grace Palmer did very well.

Overall a very good team performance as we look forward to the final against Blackrock/Effin.

Intermediate Hurlers get first Win

Our Intermediate hurlers recorded their first victory of the Nick Green Sponsored Intermediate Hurling Championship by virtue of a good if not controversial 1 point victory over Dromcollogher Broadford palyed in Croagh on Sunday evening.
Playing with the strong breeze in the first half the lads hurled well with some great scores taken.
Points from Jerome Boylan, David Sheppard and Reuben MCarthy had us in an early lead and futhter Sheppy scores had us 6 to 1 in front.
A long delievery from Mark Ryan fell kindly to David Sheppard who dispatched low to the net to open an 6 points gap and one which would last until half time and a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-6
The second half we got points from Reuben McCarthy, Mark Ryan, Neil O Gorman and Sheppy to stretched our lead to 8points.
However Drom weren’t lying down and 2 quick fire goals had them right back in the contest.
With time fast approaching the finish we tacked on 2 points from John Madden and minor Ger Kearns which untimately proved to be the winning one.
On the final whistle the referee deemed the game a draw much to the annoyance of the Na Piarsaigh crowd.
However common sense shown through and a recount from the referee and the scoreline ended
Na Piarsaigh 1-18 Dromcollogher Broadford 3-11
Team: Evan Condon, Pa Guinane, Brian Hartnett(capt), Pauric Heaney, Evan O Brien, Aidan Hennessy, Dean McLoughlin, Mark Ryan(0-1), Jerome Boylan(0-1), Neil O Gorman(0-2), John Madden(0-1), Eoghan Keogh(0-1), Reuben McCarthy(0-2), David Sheppard(1-9,6f),Evan Gilvarry.
