Munster Club Hurling Champions for the second time in three years has a very nice ring to it. Having lost the enforced toss of the coin all roads led to the home of Clare hurling Cusack Park Ennis. It was evident from the outset that the lads meant business and when Shane Dowling played a brilliant through pass for Kevin Downes to rifle to the net inside the first minute it was liftoff. NA PIARSAIGH are the county senior hurling champions for the second time in three years. The city based side, favourites going into Sunday’s decider, defeated a valiant Adare on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-12. The defeat for Adare, was their second final loss in a row.
In what was a tough and physical game, played in wet and windy conditions, the 3,604 patrons were treated to a man of the match performance from Kevin Downes. The forward, so effective for Limerick all season off the bench, was a tower of strength for the Ennis Road natives, collecting a personal tally of four points from play. Continue reading
We travelled in mass to Bruff on Saturday for the County Under 16 hurling final against Doon.
High expectations follow this team largely due their unbeaten run for the past number of years.
This was a tough game with every scored well earned particularly in the first half.
Doon had the better of the early exchanges and were good value for their early lead.
However we finally settled and began to hurl and by half time we opened up a four point lead. Continue reading
