Under 21 Hurlers just fall short.

Our under 21 hurlers were back in action tonight when they took on City rivals Patrickswell in the Gaelic Grounds in round 2 of the Championship group stages.
Following our good victory in round 1 over Deel Rangers we were hoping to kick on and establish ourselves in the Group.

We were largely outplayed in the first half with our opponents scoring well from long range and an accurate free taker.
Mid way through the half we found ourselves 5 points in arrears, however Ronan Lynch seized upon a deflected shot to kick to the net from close range.Further points from Ronan and Mike Foleydragged us right back into the game to trail by the minimum 0-09 to 1-05.
We were much improved in the second half and with scores from Ronan Lynch(2),the impressive Peter Casey with his second point and also points from sub Conor Houlihan and a brace from midfielder Willaim O Donoghue had us in front going into the final stages.
Two further points from the Well and a very dubious penalty conversion turned the tide in their favour and despite a late rally we could not secure the vital scores.
We had good displays from Michael Casey, Micheal Foley and Josh O Halloran in defence while upfront it was young Peter Casey who led the forwards ably assisted by Evan Egan and Conor Houlihan.
We now face Bruff next Tuesday in wgat is now a very important game.
