Our second string under 14 hurling team made their competitive debut on Sunday when they travelled to St Patricks to take on the locals.
The timing of the game was not the best for the lads due to confirmations in both Caherdavin and JFK on Saturday.
However we still managed to field a team and they were extremely competitive throughout.
We started slowly as was predicted and fell behind to early points from St Pats.
David O Byrne opened our account with a long range free and this was quickly followed by a point from Dean O Donnell.
The game was flowing nicely with some great ground hurling on show. The hosts taking advantage of some slack marking from our full back line to open up a two goal lead.
We did however manage a goal of our own through the stick of Mark Boylan to leave the half time score of 3-04 to 1-02.
In the second half we continued to battle strongly and showed great fighting spirit even if the lads were showing all the signs of a long confirmation day.
Our solitary score of the second half came through center forward David O Byrne who pulled on a ball to the net .
We had some very impressive performances from our goalkeeper Robin Ryan Blake, Sean Hartney, Matthew DeCourcey, Conor Stack, Dean O Donnell and Mark Boylan.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 2-02 St Patricks 5-07.
