The U11 hurlers travelled to play Eire Og, Cork in Ovens last Saturday
and having won 3 out of the 4 matches played returned home very
satisfied. Na Piarsaigh stalwart, Damien Quigley was instrumental in
organising the invite and great hospitality was shown to us in Cork.
Some tremendous hurling on the day from the group of 24 players and
special mention must be made for Wayne Kearns and James Naughton who
were immense , Vince Harrington and Ben Sheehan on the day. There
were some brilliant points scored by Jim Beary and Killian McNamara
and in defence Cormac Benson ,Conor Hartney and Conor Hourigan were
excellent. Our two camogie players, Aine O’Tiarnaigh & Sarah Stanley
showed they are more than capable of mixing it with the boys and James
Finn on his first outing with the 11’s showed great potential. Liam
Talbot is turning in some great displays in goals and Adam Jordan,
Andrew Stack, Josh Smith and James Linnane worked tirelessly over the
afternoon. Jack Wall, Shane Downey, Matthew McGann & Jake Walsh all
gave everything and the O’Tiarnaigh brothers, John & Gerard were
excellent on the day.
Eire Og and Na Piarsaigh at this age group are very closely matched
and we look forward to many more tussles over the years to come.
