Our Senior Footballers took a big step towards the knockout stages of the Championship on Saturday evening with a good win against unbeaten ST Kierans in Ballingarry.
Our midfield powerhouse Will O Donoghue has us in front early with a great point, swiftly followed by points from Alan Dempsey, Eoin Hogan from a free and David Dempsey off his weaker right peg.
This had us 4 points to the good after 10 minutes.
Kieran Daly raised our first green flag following some excellent team play and this was swiftly followed by a second goal by Peter Casey who finished off a sweeping move to put us 2-4 to 0-5.
The scoreline could have been a lot different if not for two excellent saves by our netminder Luke Moylan one of which was point blank.
We began the second half in similiar fashion and two excellent points from Alan Dempsey extended our lead.
However a St Kierans goal put a brief halt to our dominance to leave three points in it.
A surging run by Eoghan Kehilly was finished expertly to the net by Eoin Hogan to restore our cushion of 6 points.
We once again conceded a soft goal to leave it a one score game.
Our response was good however and 2 further points from Daithi Dempsey and Kieran Daly sealed a hard earned but well deserved victory.
