Feile na nGael 2018

Our Feile hurlers were back in action on Saturday morning when they travelled to Old Christians ground to take on Monaleen.
It was great to get back to back matches following the wintery weather.
Credit to the ground staff who made the pitch available to play and in spite of thre soft underfoot conditions it held up well.
The first half was very close with our lads showing great grit and determination getting in their blocks and hooks and putting huge pressure on their opposite numbers.
Matthew McGann, James Naughton and Sam Jordan were excellent protection in front of Ben Sheehan in the goals snuffing all threat out.
The half back line of Cormac Benson, Jim Beary and Killian McNamara hurled very well and launched many attacks.
In midfield Wayne Kearns and Gerard O Tiarnaigh worked tirelessly against a strong Monaleen duo.
In the forward line it was Vince Harrington who led the line well scoring both our scores while Josh Sheehan, John O Tiarnaigh, Adrew Stack, Adam Jordan and Rory Hehir worked their socks off.
At the half time whistle the teams were only separated by a solitary point 0-2 to 0-1 with both sides giving their all.
Some stern words from the coaches Paul Beary and Brendan SHeehan at the break remindiong the lads of the hard work in the lead up and the pride in the geansai.
The second half was similiar to the first but the decisive score arrived mid way through the half when a long range free was delivered in to the square and following some indecision it was Monaleen who reacted quickest to fire to the net.
With time running out we launched many attacks but were snuffed out repeatedly with our lone score coming from Vince Harrington.
No doubt all concerned will be very disappointed but you could not fault the effort shown by the players.
Plenty of hurling to be played this year and no doubt this will be a learning curve for the team as a whole.
